Too many pets suffering, tied outside, abused, bred for a few bucks, used for fighting… Happy you are responsible, and obviously take wonderful care of your pets, they look very happy, but it’s the wrong messsage to put out there when a lot of people aren’t responsible, and keep their dogs outside. All my dogs have led long lives and one that died at only 9 was due to diabetis. I’ve rescued hundreds, own 10, all healthy and sterilized.

Accidents happen, dogs jump fences, find a female in heat, there will be puppies, maybe the male that got out of your fence or off the leash will impregnate a female, and in turn the person will give those away to irresponsible families. It’s not that it’s just my opinion, it’s what saves pets. I have 15 yr. old pug, was used for breeding and then dumped, (Vet said her spine problem was caused by it, amongst other signs) she has weak hind legs, is treated and pampered, spayed at 9.

We are responsible enough, our pets won’t mate. We also fight against overpopulation, just not all of us beleive that neutering is the only and best way to do that. Opinions differ.

So, in your mind, is it better to euthanize due to over population? Do you think people are responsible enough to prevent their pets from mating? Are you aware that there are more unsterilized animals with cancer and that by sterilizing you can save your pet?

clearly, threenorns, you should follow your own advice and do some genuine researtch as there is no documented proof to support any of your claims….the ‘dubious’ benefits are in fact proven and decrease the incidence of several forms of cancer….don’t try to conceal bullshit claims with your use of pedantic terms
@jjcvmd do your research: prophylactic neutering is associated with serious, life-threatening complications that far outweigh the dubious benefits. included is greater risk of osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, obesity, and geriatric dementia.
