that comment was probably to say “He’s dead, d’uh”.. but mine was more to say long live his music, since I know he’s dead.

yeah, I don’t think it’s sacrilegious, but I don’t really like it as much because people have gotten to the point of just calling the holiday “Ex-mas” vocally. Lol but you’re right, I think one of the main reasons is laziness. LOL

    Erm…

I have to agree w/ Jason here. It originally was used because of the Greek alphabet and spelling of Christ. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if now most people use it because they’re lazy : ) imho-LOL!! But it has true rooted origins. Christmas or Xmas are both valid and neither are sacrilegious.

Well, actually the main reason Xmas is so popular is for that very reason– to be secular and appeal to all religions, Xmas has been displayed by stations, stores, etc. :D I personally don’t like “Xmas”, but I try not to mind it. Also, I don’t quite understand your explanation: you think it should be “Chi-mas”? o.O

  25. JasonLGrey

@Reganluvsyooh Actually, it’s not being irreligious. The Greek word for Chi (a syllable in Christ) was X. Therefore you get Xmas. It drives me crazy, as both a Christian and a literary type, when people think that Xmas is being against God.
