How long does it take for you to get sick of Xmas music?

We've only got a couple of weeks left before stores start with the Xmas music. How long does it take you to get thoroughly fed up with hearing it?

    About two minutes.

I’m still fed up with it from last year.

Maybe if they only played it in December. But no, we have to play it for Thanksgiving now too.

Yeah, two minutes is about all I can take too.

  4. god is make believe

    About ten years ago.

  5. Ashton

I’ve been sick of it since I was a teenager, so from the moment I hear it.

  6. origen_1999

I was sick of it 30 years ago. Can’t take it from “go”

  7. Big Richard Cheney

heh nice try. At my job they are already playing christmas music.
and for me its 3 hours.
and btw I HATE the song “Let It Snow” and all the ones about winter because I live in Arizona and I am still wearing shorts.

My idea of Christmas music is very broad.

In my world, everything is Xmas music, so the answer is never.

It takes me 366 days to get sick of Christmas CAROLS, with an extra day in leap years. In other words, never!

But the rest of what passes for Christmas music, about one minute. When I hear “Holly Jolly Christmas” or “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer,” I want to jump off the nearest tall building.

    About 5 nanoseconds.

    NEW YEARS DAY.

They started putting up Christmas stuff in department stores here in VA even before Halloween, and they started playing Christmas music at midnight on Nov.1. It usually takes me a while to get sick of it, but its the only thing that keeps the kids calm on the 5 hour trip to my mom’s house, so I have been listening to it for a month now…..

Seeing as how the past 7 years I’ve worked retail, about the second song.

  14. Raith

After playing Xmas music year after year after year after year after year in orchestra, it takes me a nanosecond to get sick of it. And I utterly despise Sleigh Ride!! Evil, evil song and I’m stuck playing it again this year.

  15. Romz

I get fed up with it only after Xmas. Otherwise, let it snow, let it snow, let it snoooowww….

Very quickly since my entire family are fundie christians. I have to listen to Bill Gathers vocal band for an entire month. …Dammit, this question was a total buzz kill….thanks for bringing it up you jerk.

I go stay at my brother’s place in Tassie every year for about 3 weeks around xmas.
Twelve days before xmas he puts on an MP3 disc of xmas carols that goes through the house 24/7 till the xmas ‘season’ has collapsed into oblivion once more for another year.
When he first did it I complained bitterly; he said I’d get used to it; I did.
He dislikes them too; he started the habit to immunise himself to the constant crap you hear all round town and in every shop.

    Try it out; it works.
    LoLz

I like Christmas music but it does start pretty early, maybe just to try and boost sales. I like listening to it on Christmas eve. It does get tiresome rather quickly.

I got sick of it as soon as I read your question, actually.

I am so sorry that you all seem to get sick of Christmas music. I am in my choir at church and we have been rehearsing since Sept. for our concert- and I NEVER get sick of singing about the birth of my Savior. I guess you all cannot understand that if you don’t have a personal relationship with Him. I am with you all though about the stores getting those Christmas things out far too soon- that is what secularized it.

  21. The Passenger

I love it. My husband hates it so I usually enjoy it all season long as I don’t listen to it that much.

I hate to break it to you but I was in some store just the other day (can’t for the life of me remember which store) and they were playing christmas music.

  22. reme_1

from the first song… I absolutely hate the weeks leading up to to xmas. Shop, shop, shop till you drop. For what? To keep the stores from going bankrupt. As an atheist I find it offensive that I must be bombarded by someone’s religious celebration from Halloween thru early Jan. My favorite radio station plays nothing but xmas music all month. When is enough enough. I have seen houses where the decorations are up until March. Give me A BREAK!

  23. zeitgeist

I really dislike it, but my wife loves it. She puts up with enough of my crap during the rest of the year, that I figure I can give her this.

FYI, check out Low’s version of “Little Drummer Boy”. Absolutely splendid!

  24. Tiny

As soon as it starts, which seems to be getting earlier and earlier each year.
we all like x-mas but what is it really all about these days. have we lost something along the way.

  25. JefFlyingV

It takes about a week for me, the remakes of songs shorten the time.

  26. xfollowyourbliss95x

It takes me just hearing the name, I hate Christmas time
